- We only read data from the currently active sheet of the currently active spreadsheet
- We do not access any other sheets in your spreadsheet
- We do not access any other spreadsheets in your Google Drive
- We do not access your Google Account information or personal data

We implement multiple layers of security to protect your sensitive data:
Access Control & Scope Limitations
- Minimal Scope Access: Uses only
spreadsheets.currentonlyscope – accesses only the currently open spreadsheet - No Cross-Spreadsheet Access: Cannot read data from other spreadsheets in your Google Drive
- No External Data Export: All data processing occurs within Google’s secure infrastructure
In-Processing Security
- Local Processing: All search operations happen locally within Google Apps Script runtime
- No Data Persistence: Data is processed in memory during active sessions and not retained
- Encrypted Transmission: All communications use HTTPS and Google’s secure infrastructure
Storage & Administrative Security
- Google Properties Service: User settings stored securely using Google’s encrypted Properties Service
- Sheet-Specific Isolation: Settings are stored per-document, isolated from other spreadsheets
- No Third-Party Sharing: User data is never shared with external services or third parties
- Compliance Monitoring: Regular review of data access patterns and Google Workspace API compliance
💾 Data Storage
- We do not store any of your spreadsheet data on our servers
- We do not store your email address or Google Account information
- We do not store usage data or analytics about how you use the add-on
- All processing happens locally in your browser and Google’s servers
- No AI/ML Training: We do not use your data to train artificial intelligence or machine learning models
⚙️ Temporary Sheet Modifications
When using the filter feature in Smart Search:
- We temporarily add a helper column as the first column (index 0) in your active sheet
- This column is used to apply Google Sheets’ native filter functionality
- The column is immediately removed after the filter operation completes
- No permanent changes are made to your spreadsheet structure
🔒 Data Sharing
- We do not share your data with any third parties
- We do not sell your data to anyone
- Your data never leaves Google’s secure infrastructure
⚡ User Preferences
- Your preferred search operators (AND, OR, Separator characters) are stored locally in each spreadsheet using Google’s Document Properties
- These settings are specific to each spreadsheet and not shared across files
- You can reset these settings at any time by reconfiguring the operators
